Rubondo Islands National Park

Located on the southwestern corner of Lake Victoria, Rubondo Island National Park is a unique aquatic jewel spanning an area of 455.8 square kilometers. Untouched by tourism, this island extends 26 km in length with a width variation of 3 km to 10 km.

In 1965, Rubondo was designated as a game reserve to provide a habitat for animals. Later in 1977, Rubondo was gazetted as a national park. Today, this island national park remains 90% forested and is mostly uninhabited.
