Safaris

Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, Arusha National Park, Tarangire National Park, and Lake Manyara.

Tanzania is perhaps the best safari destination in the world. The country takes preserving its natural resources seriously, with over 30% of its area under protected status. The more popular portion of the country for tourists is northern Tanzania. Be amazed at the great migration on the Serengeti. Visit the largest inactive volcanic caldera in the world at Ngorongoro Crater. See flamingos and walk around at Arusha National Park. Find herds of elephants and baobab trees in Tarangire, or witness the only place where lions climb trees at Lake Manyara. Even though all of these parks are close together geographically, each park is unique and definitely worth a visit.

Are you looking for a deeper cultural experience? We hope you will add a trip to visit and experience the local culture. Maasai** and Hadzabe**(Wikipedia) tribes along with cultural village tours and a visit to the famous Olduvai Gorge can be included. We specialize in customized itineraries so we can create any adventure you want. Overnights during safaris can range from basic camping in tents under the African skies to luxurious five star resorts and everything in between.

Your guide comes with years of study and experience to provide all of information on the local flora and fauna. Our well maintained Toyota Land Cruisers and Land Rovers come with all of the safari bells and whistles. Every client is guaranteed a window seat for the best possible game viewing experience, with pop up roofs to provide a less obstructed view. Care to go for a stroll? Some locations will allow you to walk on the wild side, with a park ranger of course! Do you want something a little more breathtaking? How about a hot air balloon safari followed by a picnic breakfast complete with sparkling wine. The possibilities are endless. Let Joining Safaris create the bespoke adventure of your lifetime!

We have included some of our most commonly requested itineraries. Hopefully these will help give you some ideas, if not, we will gladly customize your itinerary to suit your needs. Your safari can last anywhere from a day to a couple of weeks - we just want to make it memorable!

Climbing

Kilimanjaro and Meru

Mt Kilimanjaro is fondly known as the 'walk up mountain', but you can't say it's easy! Even with a certified guide, the biggest obstacle is the altitude. At the summit, the available oxygen is only half that at sea level. If you go pole pole(slowly in Kiswahili) and listen to your guides, you are sure to see the summit! Want to check out some of the routes? Click Here! Or you can find more information about Kilimanjaro on the Wikipedia page.

Mt Meru is Kilimanjaro's little sister. Located in nearby Arusha National Park, it is the second highest mountain in Tanzania. Sometimes used to acclimatize to the altitude before a Kilimanjaro hike, Meru is more challenging in sections but offers more seclusion with rare and exotic wildlife! Check out our routes here. Or you can find more information about Meru on the Wikipedia page.

WHAT OUR FANTASTIC RAFIKI HAVE TO SAY!

The following quotes are from tripadvisor:

"We found Joining Safaris on TripAdvisor while looking for a last minute Kilimanjaro option in Moshi. They were able to find us another group on the route we wanted to do (Lemosho Route) in order to save us a bit of money. The total price wasn't the absolute cheapest that we found, but the service was so wonderful that it was completely worth it. We wanted to do the 8 days, whereas the other group was only doing 7 days, so in the end we essentially had our own little team of two guides, porters, chef & waiter. Just enough for a really comfortable trek, but not too many. We were given any gear we needed as part of the price. Worth checking the gear to make sure you are comfortable with it, the guys will find other gear if needed. The sleeping bags didn't seem like they would be warm enough, so Erick immediately sourced us some super warm ones. Our guides were Saraji & Moses and they were both very experienced and competent, we felt safe the whole time. They had started out as porters, so knew the route extremely well. Perhaps not as much nature guiding as you would have with a guide school guide (they would often be chatting amongst themselves while leading us along the route), but for the trek safety was the most important thing for us. We reached the summit nice and early to watch the sunrise and it was overall a wonderful trek. Food was quite basic, but plentiful which is what you need when trekking and there was always enough water, plus tea, coffee etc. Post trekking popcorn is the best! Erick came out and met us at the end of our trek which was lovely.

We then went on to do a 3 day budget safari as well. We wanted to do Arusha NP, Ngorongoro & Tarangire, which isn't really a popular route, but Erick was happy for us to keep delaying the start date in the hope of finding others to join, We didn't in the end, but he gave us a really good price for a private safari for just the two of us. Our guide was Emmanuel and he was excellent. Spotting animals and stopping in all the right places for photos. Our cook was also very good, the food was fantastic, although sometimes took a little but long to come out, I think because he was working on making it so perfectly! There were some logistical teething problems at the start with the Ngorongoro permits, but these were worked out and I think they were because we had chosen an unusual itinerary. Overall it was really wonderful, and seemed like excellent value considering what we paid.

Highly recommend Erick and Joining Safaris. He will go out of his way to help you with trekking and a safari and can be trusted 100%. Wish we could go back to do some more trips with them!"

"We had a great time doing our 4-days safari trip with joining safaris. Eric is an awesome guy who gives good information about what to expect for the trip. Emanuel was our guide and that worked perfectly; he knows a lot about all the animals and he knows how to get the car in the best possible positions to see all of them! I would defintitely recommend to do a safari with this company!!"
